I first got interested in Photography when I would take happy family snaps with my Pop’s Instamatic camera. My Mum found her old Box Brownie so I had fun with that. For my 13th birthday my Dad gave me £130, £10 for each year of my life. I had never had such money, or even seen that amount, before as we grew up quite poor until my Father inherited my Grandfather’s farm when I was 11. I knew immediately that my first purchase was to be a camera of my very own. So I became the proud owner of a Kodak Ektralite.
My parents upgraded me a couple of years later to my first 35mm film camera and with these two cameras I created lots of memories of my early teens and school years. I still have all those photos stuck in the old self adhering photo albums which occasionally see the light of day when old friends come to visit

Of course heading off to Nepean Collage for a Graphic Design and Photography course saw me introduced to the SLR camera and the dark room for the first time. Once again Mum and Dad stepped in and bought me an early birthday present, my first SLR camera. This camera saw me through my late teens, the parties, my early working life and a few good holidays. It also gave me the opportunity to purchase my first zoom lens. I was excited to see my first pics of the 1988 Bi-Centennial ships sailing through Sydney Harbour all taken with my wonderful new zoom. I’ve still got all of those photos as well!!!

In the early Nineties I had the chance to go with my husband, who is a mechanic, to Adelaide, SA. His boss was into Speedway racing and needed him to work on his new car. I organised a night tour of Adelaide for the two of us and, whilst changing the shutter speed at a lookout point, the shutter broke!!! My beloved camera was dead and I was devastated.
Funds being as they were it was back to a point and shoot until I decided to quit smoking and put aside the money I was saving and I eventually got my new Canon EOS 300n . This camera I still have, along with a 300mm zoom lens I purchased for it, and it still works perfectly although it is in retirement. This is the camera that captured my kids growing up, the family get together’s and vacations.
I went digital in 2006 with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2. This camera was a ‘freebie’ as we used our credit card’s point system to purchase it. This camera was a little beauty and I loved been able to see our photos straight away. I didn’t retire the Canon just yet though and used them both in conjunction.
This brings me to my current camera, the Canon EOS 60D, which I purchased back in 2012. It’s taken all my family photo’s since then and I love it. I bought it with the twin lens kit so I’ve had fun with that. I have had a fascination with macro photography for a long time and I was finally able to purchase the Canon 100mm Macro lens a couple of years later.
All my photography has been purely for pleasure and was taken in regards to events happening in my personal life. In early 2016, after 25yrs of working for the NSW Government, I was made redundant. I decided to take a year’s break before I would get back to the workforce. It was in this time that I decided to look into ‘selling’ photos through an online means. I discovered Stock Photography and Print on Demand websites. I joined up to a few Stock Photo sites and I am now in a phase of learning new skills to develop my photography. I had known nothing of post production so this is also a new area for me to learn.
Well that is a brief history of how I have gotten to today and congratulations if you’ve made it to this paragraph. My goals are to create beautiful photographs that people want to look at. All my photo’s that I thought were great I have discovered are not that great in a world full of fantastic and talented photographers. Through the development of mobile phone cameras and apps like Instagram the world is now a very visual place. People are taking photos everyday and posting photos of their world. I’m hoping to bring you into mine and to evoke an emotion that you will want to visit me again.
